Revelry & Delight - classical choral and instrumental music celebrating St. George's

During the Regency period Brighton was a place to follow one's fancies, have a party, and experience the decadence of the era's lavish living. To celebrate St. George's 200th anniversary, Brighton Consort and The Fretful Federation Mandolin Orchestra present a concert of revelry and delight.

About the event

Brighton Consort's a cappella choral music is all about love and romance. Drawn from our larger programme entitled 'Amica mea: Renaissance Love Songs', the music in this concert is in praise of love when things are going well. None of the gloom of a broken heart here. It's time to enjoy life and love and live it up, something Regency Brighton knew how to do!

The Fretful Federation Mandolin Orchestra gives us upbeat and entertaining music from the Baroque and beyond. This local community orchestra of mandolins, mandolas, guitars, cello and bass will perform a heart-warming programme including pieces by Vivaldi and Beethoven, both composers who were well-known and loved by the party-goers in Brighton in the 18th and 19th centuries.
Doors open at 12pm and the performance will begin at 1pm.
