Join us at St George's Church for the opening concert of the Brighton Early Music Festival 2026. City of Dreams is a spectacular musical journey through Renaissance Florence, tracing the city's artistic and cultural transformation from the building of Brunelleschi's magnificent dome to the creation of the world's first opera for the wedding celebrations of Maria de' Medici in 1600.

Featuring the Monteverdi String Band, The Royal Sackbut Collective, BREMF Consort of Voices, local schoolchildren and actor Daria Mazzocchio as Maria de' Medici, this imaginative production combines music, theatre and storytelling in a celebration of one of history's greatest centres of creativity.

Tickets: £18–£25. Under 30s: £9–£12.50. Children under 12 go free with a paying adult. £5 Prom tickets (subject to availability) will be released from 1 October.
